My name is Betsy Turnbull, and I
am thrilled to be returning to Virginia Middle School for the 2014-15
school year. I look forward to working with students, parents,
and teachers to achieve my goal: helping students become
the best learners they can be.
I have worked in education for 26 years, the first 11 in Middle Tennessee. I taught high school history for five years prior to working for three years as a high school counselor. I then took a position as an elementary counselor and served in two K-3 schools. When my family moved to Bristol in the spring of 1999, the Bristol Virginia Schools hired me as a part-time counselor at Virginia Middle School. In the fall of 2000, I moved to a full-time counseling position at Highland View Elementary, where I worked until June 2007. I returned to Virginia Middle School in August of 2007, and I continue to love working with middle school students.
I earned my undergraduate degree from Davidson College in North Carolina. I hold two masters degrees: a M.A. in history from Vanderbilt University and a M.Ed. in School Counseling from Middle Tennessee State University.
My family and I enjoy living in Bristol and often take advantage of the many outdoor activities available in the region. I am looking forward to a great year counseling students at Virginia Middle School.
